Skye Camanachd, a colourful past.

For our last instalment on the work for the Throw Up 20.18 project we look at artist John McNaught and his time spent with Skye Camanachd. Growing up in Skye, John has a close affinity with the club and was keen to mark the clubs 125th year.

Using original photos from as early as 1898 of the squad for inspiration, John recreated the images with the mens first and ladies teams using hand-tinted photogravures to create the final artwork. Both teams were fully up for the challenge and donned taches for the photoshoot.

John was also keen to mark the dedication of the volunteers who help run the club and put a call out to the community to recognise those, past and present. This was done using mini polaroids for those currently involved in the club and small linocut prints to document the stalwarts of the past.
